ThinkingTap stores your thoughts on your device. We do not read them, sell them, or share them with advertisers — ever.
ThinkingTap is a native iOS app that helps you capture fleeting thoughts before they disappear. Your captures are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's Core Data framework. If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, Apple's CloudKit infrastructure syncs your data across your own devices only — encrypted by Apple and inaccessible to us.
This policy explains what information is collected, why, and how you can control it.
Captures (stored on your device only): The text or transcribed voice content you save, tags and reminder times you assign, and timestamps for each capture. These never leave your device unless you choose to export or enable iCloud sync.
Anonymous usage analytics: We use PostHog to collect aggregate, non-identifiable data — which screens you visit, how often you use the app, and whether features are being used. This data contains no personal information and cannot be linked back to you.
Subscription status: RevenueCat manages your in-app subscription. We receive only your subscription status (active/trial/expired) — not your payment details, which are handled entirely by Apple.
Crash reports: If the app crashes, Apple may send us an anonymized crash log. This contains no personal content from your captures.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build profiles. We do not sell data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Period.
The only third-party services that receive any data from ThinkingTap are:
You are in complete control of your data at all times.
You can export all of your captures to a PDF file at any time — including during the free trial. No subscription required. Find it in Settings. Your export includes every capture with its timestamp, tags, and full thought text. Yours to keep, share, or store anywhere.
Your captures are stored using Apple's Core Data framework on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple's CloudKit handles the sync — encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple's encryption standards.
We do not operate servers that store your captures. There is no ThinkingTap database containing your thoughts.
ThinkingTap uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
ThinkingTap is a general-audience app intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed at, marketed to, or designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Access for minors is governed at the App Store level. Apple's parental controls allow parents to restrict app downloads and purchases for users under 18. Parents can manage these settings through iPhone's Screen Time controls or Family Sharing.
Age-related privacy laws are evolving rapidly. Several U.S. states have enacted or are enacting laws that extend additional protections to users under 16 and under 18 — including requirements for parental consent and restrictions on data sharing. ThinkingTap does not share, sell, or use personal data for advertising regardless of user age, which means these protections already apply to all users by default.
If you believe a minor has used ThinkingTap and you have concerns about their data, please contact us at support@thinkingtap.app and we will address it promptly.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via an in-app notice before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
Continued use of ThinkingTap after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
